Overview

Making the Band is an ABC/MTV reality television series that exists in separate iterations, each iteration focusing on a specific music act. It spawned musical acts O-Town, Da Band, Danity Kane, Day26, and Donnie Klang. Except for the first iteration of the series featuring O-Town, all seasons of Making the Band have been overseen by Diddy, acting as the man of the house who makes the final decision on who will be in the band.

Orlando Blues
March 31, 2000

The guys go out and meet some girls. While they're having a good time, Ikaika can't get his girlfriend out of his mind. The next day, after dance instructing, Ikaika has trouble fitting in with the rest of the group since they're different from his friends at home. A couple days later, while the guys are inside talking and eating pizza at a table, Ikaika is outside upset. Marc from Trans Con talks to him and convinces Ikaika to give the guys another chance, so he goes back in and eats pizza with them.

The Joint Venture
April 7, 2000

Jacob and Erik form a bond and begin writing songs together, while Trevor feels excluded. A few ""O-Town Groupies"" come to the house and hang out with Jacob and Erik, all night. The next day, Lou Pearlman checks out on how the guys are doing. He then talks to the group one on one. Later, the groupies come back and leave the house along with Jacob, Erik and Ashley. While they're gone, Marc comes over and gets furious. When the guys return home, they feel bad about being out, and decide to start working harder.

Girlfriends Visit
April 14, 2000

It's announced that Ikaika's girlfriend Malia and Paul's girlfriend Carrah are coming for a visit. The night before the arrival, Paul goes out with the girls from ""Herizon"". Heather, whom Paul is fond of doesn't like the idea of meeting his girlfriend. Meanwhile, Ikaika and Malia are having a great time, until he thinks she doesn't like his career choice.

Finalists Practice
April 21, 2000

Ashley, Mike and Erik sit around the house singing songs to their new girlfriend Cori. Later, Jenny from ""Herizon"" calls the house wanting to talk to Erik. Mike and Ashley go to Cori's house to each win her affections. The next day, Shelly arrives at the airport and the couple spend some time together. Back at home, Jenny gets upset an calls Erik a bad name. Jacob hears it and forces her to apologize to Erik. He asks her to leave and she never returns to the O-Town house.

Record Contracts
April 28, 2000

The guys get their record contracts from Lou Pearlman. They also get some time to go home. There, Ikaika gets to talk things out with his family about the contracts. Ikaika's brother gets involved.

Goodbye Paul

When the guys return from vacation,Paul has some news to tell. After telling Trevor and Lou Pearlman, Paul announces to the group that he's leaving the eight. Jacob, Trevor, Ashley, Mike, Bryan, Ikaika and Erik say goodbye to Paul with a song (Love Potion # 9).

Since a holiday is coming, the final cut is being delayed. Which means all seven guys get to go to Lou Pearlman's New Year's Eve party. They all go except for Ikaika, who returns home to take an exam. Once at the party, the guys break all the rules and get chewed out.

Decision Time
June 16, 2000

With the final cut coming closer, and Ikaika still at home, the six guys bond. Jacob then tells the group that if Ikaika makes the final cut and he does too, he'll turn Lou down. When Ikaika does return, the seven guys get into a session of arguing.

O-Town Members Announced

Lou Pearlman finally announces the five guys who will become O-Town. He selects: Ikaika, Jacob, Ashley, Erik and Trevor.

Mike and Bryan both leave the house for their own lives. Later, the guys of O-Town begin practice as a band.

While O-Town is working on their press tour, Ikaika and his brother are dealing with Lou Pearlman and his employees. Paul, Mike and Bryan return to promote the tv series. Finally, Ikaika gathers all the guys and makes the announcement that he's leaving O-Town.

Four-Member Group
August 11, 2000

With Ikaika gone, Erik, Jacob, Ashley and Trevor make the decision that they want O-Town t be a four man group. Lou Pearlman disagrees, but give the guys a chance to prove they don't need a fifth member. They bomb.

The Replacement
August 18, 2000

With Ikaika gone, the guys all decide they want Dan Miller to join O-Town. Dan comes in for a trial period and while he's working, Jacob, Trevor, Ashley and Erik are getting chewed out for not practicing enough.
