Overview
Centering around the lives of pre-teen Hispanic twins named Maya and Miguel Santos and their friends, the program is aimed at promoting multiculturalism and education in general. It is geared to the 5-9 age range. Part of the dialogue in each episode in the English version is in Spanish but only individual words or phrases which are explained in English.

Mala Suerte
When something goes wrong during breakfast, Maya believes that their apartment is filled with bad luck. Maya asks her friend Maggie if she has any ideas of how they can make the bad luck go away. Luckily, Maggie's Grandmother has a guide to Feng Shui. Maya, Miguel and the rest of their friends misread the guide and follow the instructions. They all help around the house as they redecorate, paint and rearrange the furniture. They all think they did a good Job. When the twin's parents come home everything turns into a mess.
The Matchmaker
When Maya sees her Grandmother Elena dancing cheerfully by herself, she decides that she is lonely. Maya decides to fix her grandmother with a sixty year old bachelor in a blind date. Maya helps Abuela Elena receive a makeover for her blind date. Later in the evening the blind date goes horribly wrong and nothing like Maya expected it to go.
When Maya met Andy
Miguel remembers when Andy one of his best friends came to the city. He remembers how Maya's reaction was toward Andy. Maya felt that since Andy was missing an arm he should be treated with more caution. Maya warned Theo and Miguel not to play sports in front of Andy because he might feel bad. Maya felt that Andy was incapable of playing sports as well as the other boys. Once Maya sees how good Andy plays sports she feels bad and realizes that everybody should be treated equally.
The Autograph
When Paco accidentally ruins Miguel's favorite baseball card, Maya tries to fix the problem. The baseball star Orlando Cruz is coming to town on that weekend. Maya and her friends try to get an autograph from the great baseball player themselves. They try many ideas to get as close as they can to the baseball star. Can Maya get an autograph from Miguel's favorite baseball player? Abuela Elena also makes a new friend. At first she is sitting boreed alone in the bleachers with him. Then his bad habits cause the Grandma to teach him to bite on gum instead of trash.
Rhymes with 'Gato
Chrissy's kitten just recently ran away. Maya and friends help her by looking for the kitten and asking other people if they have seen a kitten. Maggie who is terrible at spanish says that they are missing a ""pato""- a duck. At the end Maya ends up with a duck instead of a ""gato""- a cat.
La Nueva Cocinita
When Maya and Miguel look through Abuela Elena's old Trunk filled with memories they find an unusual thing. It's a Menu of an Old Restaurant with the name ""La Cocinita""- Little Kitchen. Maya sees how her grandma sights and remembers the good memories. Maya gets an idea of making a new restaurant with the same name for her grandma and all of the neighborhood to enjoy.
The Letter
One morning Maya finds an abandoned letter on top of Miguel's desk written to a pretty girl in their class named Esperanza. Maya, Chrissy and Maggie decide that Miguel might need help making friends. The girls tell Esperanza that Miguel is a great athlete and how he is great. It turns out that the note was written by Andy. Maya, Chrissy and Maggie have a lot of explaining to do with Andy, Miguel and Esperanza. The girls do not know what to do now.
Teacher's Pet
When Paco stops talking Maya worries and thinks that he is sick. They take him to the vet and the vet tells Maya that Paco is lonely. Maya decides to take Paco to school. While playing soccer she looses Paco as well as her teacher's parrot ""Mihn."" The two parrots become friends and they talk to each other when they are lonely.
La Calavera
Maya borrows a skull made of sugar from her grandmother to show in her presentetion of Mexico. Maya promises her grandma that she will not let anything bad happen to it. Maya ends up loosing the calvera and decides that she should go look for it. She looses it because she switched backpacks with somebody else by accident. After she finds her backpack she jumps excitedly and accidently drops the ""Calavera"" so it breaks. At the end Maya tells Abuela Elena that she broke it and the grandmother agrees that they should do another one together.
Politics Unusual
Maggie is a great dancer and wants to dance in the School Assembly Show. Mrs. Langley allows her to dance but she has to dance with Miguel. Miguel is not a good dancer and tells Mrs. Langley that he does not want to dance. She says only the Class President could do that. Maggie decides that she should run for Class President. Maggie is competing against a boy and looses against him because she only wanted to be class president so Miguel does not have to dance.
Tito's Mexican Vacation
When Maya sees that Tito really misses Mexico she has an idea to send him to Mexico. When Maya realizes that she cannot afford to send him to Mexico she decides that she will bring Mexico to him. Maya along with Miguel, Maggie, Chrissy, Andy, Theo and Paco make the community center look like a Mexican Vacation.
The Doubtful Prince
Maya tries to help Tito be the star of a play. When the director chooses Tito to have the major part he is unsure whether he can do it or not. Maya and her friends try to help him overcome his stage fright.
The Bully and The Bunny
A new kid moves in to the twins neighborhood and starts bullying and bossing them around. Maya thinks he might not be so bad. Once he buys Maya and Miguel's favorite bunny from the Pet Store she decides there is something wrong with him. Maya is determined to find out what is wrong with Jimmy McCorkle.
Family Time
Maya notices that everyone in her family including herself is tired and grumpy of doing to much work. She decides that the only thing they need is a family vacation. Maya plans the perfect vacation for her family and herself. Maya's perfect vacation is ruined because of rain and many other reasons. The Santos family agrees that it does not matter what happens in the vacation as long as they are with their family.
Surprise, Surprise
Chrissy is upset because her Pop Star Idol, Enrique, has not answered any of the letters that she has written him. Maya sees how sad she is that she decides to throw her a surprise party. After the party goes a little wrong she decides one thing. Her decision is to invite Enrique to her party. Maya is set to give her friend the best party she has ever had.
An Okri-Dokey Day
Maya thinks that their neighboors life are boring because they don't have children. Maya decides to spend a day with their neighbors Greg and Isoka Okri. Maya takes them in Roller Coaster rides, kidfood, food in bed and facial treatments. The Okris get more than they bargained for.
Chrissy's Big Move
When Maya hears that her best friend Chrissy is moving she decides to help her prepare. Chrissy does not want to move away from her friends. Maya, Miguel, Maggie, Andy, Theo and Tito help Chrissy realize that Hong Kong is not that bad. They show her an imaginative voyage to Hong Kong. As well as restaurants thats serve Dim Sui, Dragon Boat Races and a Pink Dolphin-Watching Cruise. Chrissy can't wait to go to Hong Kong.At the end she doesn't move.
Career Day
It is Career Day at Maya's school and they all go with mentors. Maggie goes with an Electric Repairman. Theo goes with a Busdriver. Miguel goes with a female Austronaut. Maya ends up with Morti and Insurance salesman that hates his job. Maya helps him find a new job but he decides to keep his old job.
I've Got to be Mi-guel
Cousin Tito admires Miguel and tries to copy him; Maya wants Tito to be more like himself.

Miguel enters a contest to create a comic book, but he catches a cold and asks Maya to finish the story for him.

The siblings try to audition for a game show, but lose their knack for working together due to rivalry; fortunately, they overcome their problems.
The Wrestler Next Door
A new neighbor moves in, and Tito's sure that the man, a baker, is really a famous Mexican masked wrestler.
A Little Culture
Maya forgets to buy tickets for a movie and suggests that the gang goes to the Natural History Museum instead.
The Bet
When Maya comes to believe that Miguel has grown overly obsessed with playing video games, she challenges him to go cold turkey. He agrees -- on the condition that she refrain from meddling in other people's business. Whoever gives in first will do the other's chores for two weeks. Miguel has to summon all his strength to resist the lure of electronic games, while Maya is going batty trying to keep herself from offering advice to friends in need.
The Cherry Chipper Cupid Sisters
Maya, Chrissy, and Maggie are in love with the new girls action cartoon, "The Cheery Chipper Cupid Sisters". Only a very surreal experience of trying to find a bird-napped Paco makes Maya realize that perhaps she's taken this latest fad a bit too far.
Team Santos
Maya accidentally sets off an air horn during an important soccer play, ruining Miguel's kick and losing the game for him. Feeling terrible, she takes Miguel to a carnival to cheer him up.
Friends Forever?
Maya's friends get into an argument and split up. Meanwhile, Theo and Andy discover that Miguel has been secretly coaching each of them for an open position on the soccer team.
The Slump
When Miguel's baseball batting average drops off the charts, the bad vibes begin to extend into all areas of his life. In a desperate attempt to help Miguel regain his magic, Andy and Theo put Miguel through a series of slump-busting exercises... but nothing works, and Miguel quits the team. Meanwhile, Maya is on a mission to get the team new uniforms through sponsorship from neighbors.
The Dogwalkers
The twins start a business taking care of pets. Their goal is to raise money to send a woman to her high-school reunion.
Recipe for Disaster
Maya wants to win an award by collecting the most books for a fair; Rosa donates a cookbook, but later needs a recipe from it.
The Pen-Pal
Miguel is assigned a pen pal from Puerto Rico and starts to embellish facts about himself. Then he learns that the pen pal is coming to visit.
Abuela Upmanship
Maya fibs about Abuela Elena and says that her grandmother was a movie star, although she only appeared in a high-school play.
Fashionistas
Miguel agrees to help out in the girls' fashion show, but doesn't know that he has to be a model.
Maya Quixote and Miguel Panza
Maya reads Don Quixote de la Mancha and is inspired by the themes of truth, honor, and courage found in the novel. When Miguel's favorite flavor of ice cream is discontinued, she decides they must go on a Don Quixote-style quest to get the flavor reinstated.
The Taming of Mr. Shue
When the beloved teacher Mrs. Langley leaves to have a baby, the kids get a long-term substitute, Mr. Shue.
Tito's Pet
After a school-wide pet fair, Tito is upset because the winners, Freddy and Cesar Castillo, make fun of his tarantula and gloat about winning the first prize.
Real Twins
Maya tries to be like Miguel to be on a TV show about twins, but they discover how different they are.
Give Me a Little Sign
Tito learns sign language from his new friend, who is hearing-impaired. Inspired by Lupe Ontiveros (voice of Abuela Elena), the mother of two deaf sons, the episode premiered during the 2006 National Deaf Awareness Week.
A Star is Born
Santiago is going to make a television commercial for his pet store, but when Maya hears what he has in mind, she decides to take over and produce something flashier, to really draw in customers.
Paper Girl
Maya becomes editor of the school paper, but she thinks the stories are too ordinary and does some creative editing.
Miguel's Wonderful Life
Miguel, angry at Maya, wishes he didn't have a sister. His wish is granted, and he sees what life would be like without her.
The Video
Abuela's old friend from Mexico, Carlota, cancels a planned visit and the former is heartbroken. To cheer her up, Maya, Miguel, and their friends decide to make a secret "surprise" video of "A Day in the Life" of their grandmother.
Decisions, Decisions
Maya and Miguel are thrilled when they win tickets to an extreme sports competition. However, they're disappointed to see they have only four tickets, not enough for them to bring all their friends. The twins devise competitions to decide which two of their four friends will get their extra tickets.
A Rose is Still a Rose
When Abuela Elena leaves town for a few days, she entrusts an eager Maya with the care and feeding of her prized roses. Meanwhile, Miguel wants to become a wrestler and begins taking lessons from Gus "El Guamazo" Lopez, former luchador.
Role Reversal
When Maya and Miguel keep talking about how easy their parents' lives seem to be, the children and parents decide to switch roles for a day. Maya and Miguel run the pet store and keep the apartment in order, while Rosa and Santiago spend the day at dance, soccer, and the "activities fun club."
After School
After Maggie arrives late for class one day and interrupts Mr. Nguyen’s class with her complaints, he issues her an "after school" requiring her to stay late one day. Maggie is appalled, since this has never happened to her before, and she tries every trick in her book to get Mr. Nguyen to change his mind.
The Wedding
Rosa's cousin Angelina got engaged and shares her fantasy for the perfect wedding with the Santos family over dinner, the grim-faced groom arrives with some news: he has received a promotion that will take him out of the country. Maya proclaims that they can host the wedding at their house, and have everything ready in just two days!
Puppy Love
Miguel takes in a stray dog while his parents are away, and his trouble increases when the dog has puppies.
Mother's Day
When Maya and Miguel have bought their mother a cat-shaped potholder, but their friends are not impressed. She and Miguel decide to make a facial mask for their mother.
The Big Fight
When Theo and Miguel have a big fight about a remote-controlled race-car derby, Maya takes it upon herself to set things right between the two estranged friends. But whatever she does only seems to make things worse.
The Best Thanksgiving Ever
Santiago's mother, Tata Santos, is coming from Puerto Rico for Thanksgiving, and Maya and Miguel want to make sure that she gets to have the best Thanksgiving ever.
Cupid
Maya plans on a perfect Valentine's Day. Meanwhile, Miguel is tapped to be the school's official Cupid.
Papi Joins the Band
Miguel, Theo, and Andy decide to enter a talent contest at the Community Center by putting together a band. When Santiago hears the news, he tells the boys that he used to have his own band, and he offers his services. The problem is that Santiago soon goes from offering gentle advice to becoming a fourth member of the band, and Miguel has to find a way to tell his father to let the boys do it their own way.
Crushed
Miguel has a crush on a new substitute teacher and his classmates find out when one of his friends inadvertently reveals his secret.
The Red Jacket
Miguel buys a jacket to give to Kylie for her birthday, but Maya finds it and thinks that it is for her.
Maya the Mascot
Maya is the mascot for Miguel's basketball team. Maya has to give it up when Miguel twists his ankle so she can take care of him.
Good Luck Paco
After a couple of coincidences, the kids become convinced that Paco is a good luck charm. At first it's great fun, but soon Paco is in so much demand to give everyone good fortune that the poor parrot is getting worn out.
Paging Dr. Maya
Maya works for a veterinarian and mistakenly believes that the doctor's practice is closing. So she sets out to find more clients for the clinic, which is soon swamped with patients.
The Battle of Birthdays
Maya and Miguel decide to have separate birthday parties, but accidentally schedule them at the same time.
Say Cheese!
Maggie gets braces just before school pictures are to be taken, so Maya tries to cheer her up.
A House Divided
Tired of constantly bumping into each other, Maya and Miguel opt to split the apartment in half.
Every Day is Earth Day
For Earth Day, the kids plant a community garden in an old lot, but a storm turns the patch into a muddy mess.
The Big Idea
Maya tries to ease Miguel's anxiety about a soccer game by training him on the morning of the match. However, they lose track of time and Miguel misses the team bus, so he and Maya make a mad dash to the soccer stadium.
I Love Maya
Maya learns that the director's new play centers her until she learns that the main character sleeps through the whole play. Despite the fact that she has no lines, Maya has fun, and learns the value of keeping her promises.
